Heuweloord – Centurion
The suburb of Heuweloord which is situated to the West of Centurion is one of the more established affordable areas with beautiful gardens and plenty of trees. Most of the properties have a view over the Rietspruit or South over the R28 towards Thatchfield. The suburb consists of approximately 786 houses and 196 townhouses. The suburb is popular with the younger buyers as it offers affordable housing and is centrally situated in Centurion in terms of accessibility with the Reds Mall being just around the corner. The type of properties varies and includes houses, townhouses, duets, apartments, vacant land, clusters and guesthouses. The freehold stands range in size from 400 sm to 2,500 sm. The price of houses ranges from R650,000 to R1,610,000 (2010) (Average of R903,000) whilst the price of townhouses ranges from R485,000 to R865,000 (2010) (Average of R555,000). Very few vacant stands are available and the price is about R350,000. The property owners in Wierda Park are extremely stable as 73% of the owners have lived in their houses for more than 5 years.
The suburb is bordered by Ruimte Road (M34) to the North, Voortrekker Road (R55) to the West, Rietspruit (Amberfield) to the East and the R28/N14 (Krugersdorp Highway) to the South.
Due to the fact that Heuweloord is one of the older suburbs in Centurion, most of the properties have large well established gardens. Residents prefer the suburb for its convenient location, variety of dwellings and tranquil environment.
Shopping Centres in the immediate vicinity include the Reds Mall, Celtis Ridge Centre, Sutherland shopping Centre, Koedoe Arcade and Wierda Two Centre. The area also has a number of smaller shopping centres with the usual cafes and convenience stores.
Sports facilities in the surrounding suburbs include karate, dancing, badminton, wrestling, pigeon racing, athletics, tennis, soccer, birding, ballet and gymnastics. Many other sports are available in the surrounding suburbs.
Heuweloord is central to a number of schools including Rooihuiskraal Primary, Uitsig High, Eldoraigne High, Zwartkop High, Bakenkop Primary, Hennopspark Primary, Doxa Deo, Springvale Primary, Cresta College, Montessori, and Wierda Park Primary. There are also two Nursery Schools in Heuweloord with another thirty four Nursery Schools and crèches in Wierda Park and Raslouw.
Residents of Heuweloord have access to the greenbelt area around the Rietspruit. The closest Post Office is the Wierda Park Post Office on the corner of Willem Botha Street and Ruimte Road. The nearest library is situated in Eldoraigne on Ireland Avenue. The only Guesthouse in Heuweloord is the Lecawi Guest House, although Eldoraigne also has thirteen Guesthouses and Raslouw has two Guesthouses. Wierda Park also has two Nurseries situated in Ruimte Road and lloys Street.
Churches in the area include Baptist, Gereformeerde, NG, AGS, Doxa Deo, Presbyterian, Christ is the way, New Life, Methodist, Apostolic, etc. Medical Centres in the vicinity include the Bakenkop Medical Centre and Wierda Park Day Clinic both in Wierda Park, as well as the Medicross in Eldoraigne. The Unitas hospital is about 8km from Heuweloord. The closest Provincial clinics are situated in Eldoraigne and Rooihuiskraal.
Heuweloord also offers easy access to the N1 and R28/N14, for commuters travelling by car to either Pretoria, Midrand, Kempton Park, Johannesburg, Krugersdorp, OR Tambo International Airport as well as Lanseria Airport.
The closest police station is the Wierda Bridge Police Station situated in Valhalla.
