Amberfield - Centurion

The suburb of Amberfield is a fairly new suburb in Centurion and was developed on land that is part of Rooihuiskraal North. The suburb consists of approximately 2,587 houses and 2,700 townhouses. This is a very popular suburb and is situated to the West of Centurion. The type of properties available includes houses, townhouses, duets, apartments, vacant land, clusters, guesthouses, security estates and new developments. The freehold stands range in size from 270 sm to 1,100 sm. The price of houses ranges from R900, 000 to R2, 400,000 (2009) and the price of townhouses from R600, 000 to R1, 300,000 (2009). The cost of vacant land varies from R350, 000 to 700,000 (2009). The suburb is fairly stable in that 50% of the residents have lived in their current house for more than 5 years. Within Amberfield are some very popular Estates such as Amberfield Crest Estate, Amberfield Glen Estate, Amberfield Heights Estate, Amberfield Manor Estate, Amberfield Ridge Estate and Amberfield Valley Estate.

The suburb is bounded by the N14 to the South, Heuweloord and the Rietspruit to the West, Rooihuiskraal Road (M37) to the East and the Mall@Reds to the North.

Shopping Malls in the immediate vicinity include the Mall@Reds and the Raslouw Lifestyle Centre

Schools in the area include Laerskool Wierdapark, Bakenkop Laerskool, Springvale Primary, Eldoraigne Hoërskool, Sutherland Secondary School, Centurion Christian School and Doxa Deo ( South Campus).

Nursery schools include  Froggies, Kleuterhoekie, Ietsie Bietsie and Ietsie Bietsie Crèche  (Rooihuiskraal), Pieriewierie, Kabouterland, Little Village, Bambi, Maranataland, Waterland and Klitsie (Wierdapark)

Churches in the area include Great Hope Baptist Church ( Wierda park), NG Church (Wierda Park   South), West View Methodist Church ( Wierda Park), AFM New Life ( Raslouw), Centurion Vineyard Christian Fellowship (Celtisdal), Doxa Deo South Campus ( Raslouw), Afrikaanse Protestante Kerk ( Wierda Park), Church of the Nazarene ( Wierda Park), Saint Stephens Anglican ( Eldoraigne) and Centurion Presbyterian Church( Raslouw).

The Unitas hospital is about 5km away, and the following clinics are in close proximity; Wierdapark Day Clinic, Bakenkop Medical Clinic, Rooihuiskraal Provincial Clinic, Medipark Clinic, Eldoraigne Provincial Clinic, Medicross Eldoraigne, Clicks Clinic in the Mall@Reds Centre and the DisChem Clinic in the Raslouw Lifestyle Centre. The nearest Police station is Wierda Bridge police station in Valhalla and the nearest library is the Rooihuiskraal library in Rooihuiskraal.

Amongst the 103 shops in the Mall@Reds Shopping Centre is the Mall@Reds Post Office, the Cine Centre Movie house and the Virgin Active Gymnasium.

Facilities in both Mall@Reds and Raslouw Lifestyle Centre include all major banks and forex dealers, restaurants and fast food outlets, major retailers such as Pick ‘n Pay, Woolworths, Clicks, Mr Price Home, Checkers, clothing / jewelry / home décor and interior / hair and beauty salons / foot ware / audio and electrical / music and entertainment. Entertainment includes the Wonderland Entertainment Centre.  

The Rooihuiskraal Historical Terrain and Animal Farm are located in Rooihuiskraal Road just north of the N14. This site was declared a national monument in 1981. The original farmstead dates back to the 1880s. It was the location of two battles during the Anglo-Boer war. One of the crucial battles of the First Anglo Boer War, the Battle of Rooihuiskraal took place here when Boer forces hid behind the stone walls of the farms kraal and defeated the British troops who were retreating from Pretoria via Rooihuiskraal. Facilities includes; an animal farm; children's playground; picnic area with braai facilities; two barns, lapa for private functions and a restaurant.

The Gardener Ross Golf & Country Estate designed and build by Ernie Els is in close proximity.

Amberfield offers easy access to commuters travelling to either Pretoria, Midrand, Krugersdorp or Johannesburg, via the N1 (Ben Schoeman Highway) or the N14 (Krugersdorp Highway).
